Compassion Shabbat

October 13 @ 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Free

Temple Beth El will be hosting a special Shabbat Service on Friday, October 13 at 7:30 p.m. to begin “Standing United with Compassion” month in Tacoma/Pierce County. We will be joined by many faith leaders from our community as we join together in express our support and caring for those who have found themselves attacked and marginalized. This event is sponsored by Associated Ministries and is the result of more than 30 faith leaders gathering last spring to reflect on hate speech and threats of violence directed toward Jews and Muslims, immigrants, minorities, members of the LGBTQ community and others. “Standing United with Compassion” is designed to offer a positive message of support and caring as we gather to reflect on our common values and dreams. On the weekend of October 13-15, congregations throughout our area will read a statement drafted by Professor Samuel Torvend of PLU. We invite you to Shabbat services on October 13 to celebrate our community coming together in support of one another.
