Faith Leader 250 Roundtable

In case you haven’t had the opportunity yet, please do not forget to register for the Faith Leader 250 Roundtable, which will be held Wednesday, June 17 at Seattle University from 10am – Noon (including an extra 30 minutes before and after for schmoozing and connecting). The Jewish Community Relations Council, CEIE at Seattle U, and Paths to Understanding are hosting this gathering of Puget Sound clergy and faith leaders for a morning of connection, learning, sharing, and interfaith solidarity, as we mark America’s 250th with both its blessings and challenges.

This event is open to clergy and faith leaders in the Puget Sound area, until capacity is reached, so please invite any colleagues who may be interested. Please  reach out to Rabbi Jason Levine with any questions.

As America approaches its 250th anniversary, the role of faith communities and faith leadership  in our civic life—and our shared responsibility to protect it—is more vital than ever. Upholding democracy is not a passive act; it requires a persistent commitment to the values of pluralism, justice, and the protection of religious freedom for all.

Our goal is to convene faith leaders around the shared cause of supporting democracy and religious freedom. During this milestone birthday for our nation, this is also a pivot moment we are called to lead with moral courage. By standing together, we demonstrate that a unified, moral voice is a powerful and necessary tool for sustaining a healthy democracy and fostering understanding in challenging times.

The morning includes:

• Interfaith Study using Faith 250 to consider the Declaration of Independence through a modern multi-faith lens.

• Sharing in solidarity, using Interfaith America, about the blessings and challenges our communities face today.

• Two actions, including a public statement about democracy and our country, and work led by Paths to Understanding and Braver Faith ahead of the midterm elections.

• The first steps for future work and partnership together for our democracy, communities, and each other.

250 years is a moment to mark, and we look forward to doing so together, with a thoughtful look at our post, an honest assessment of our present, and a commitment to our work for the future of this democracy we share.
