Literacy on the Hilltop

Learn more about family literacy resources, opportunities for after school learning, free library programs and resources, and news from the Hilltop Library Planning Committee at this free community fair. Additionally, there will be face-painting, crafts activities, snacks, a young poetry workshop, storytelling and animation / digital design demonstrations.

Keynote speaker for the free event is Dr. Gloria Burgess who explores the rich, beautiful heritage of spirituals and poetry from the African-American tradition in I’ll Fly Away: A Sojourn through Poetry and Spirituals. Her program is presented by Tacoma Public Library in partnership withHumanities Washington Speakers Bureau.

Literacy on the Hilltop is sponsored by the Hilltop Library Planning Committee, Communities in Schools, Child Care Resources, Tacoma Public Schools and Tacoma Public Library.
