AM Transitions Two Legacy Programs

AM recently announced the transition of two of AM’s legacy programs.

First is our VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) program. Sound Outreach is applying to the IRS, with our assistance, to take over leadership of the VITA effort in Pierce County. Once they are awarded funding, we are confident they will not only carry this work forward but also build upon it, potentially expanding financial supports and deepening client impact. While it is bittersweet to close our chapter with VITA, we do so with a full heart, knowing that we are passing along a program that is stronger than ever. We look forward to seeing the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program continue to grow and serve our community in new and meaningful ways.

Next we recently announced a major transition for the Paint Tacoma Beautiful program, which after 40 years we will no longer manage in its current model. However we are excited that opportunities to continue this work will remain available in our community as Rebuilding Together South Sound works to develop an exterior home painting program as part of their existing services. They plan to begin integrating this work later this year, with the hope of launching projects during the Spring and Summer of 2027. We are thankful for their willingness to continue supporting homeowners in our community and will fully support them through this transition.

We extend our deepest gratitude to the incredible volunteers, community partners, churches, sponsors, and supporters who have made both of these programs possible. Their compassion, generosity, and commitment to serving our neighbors have helped to make a lasting impact throughout our community. Within their new agencies, both programs will continue their impact.
