Tapestries: Music for Choir and Cello
Event Information
We look forward to welcoming you Northwest Repertory Singers’ “Tapestries: Music for Choir and Cello” on Saturday, May 17 at 7:30 PM and Sunday, May 18 at 3:00 PM at Christ Episcopal Church (310 N. K St., Tacoma).
We’re excited to share a special musical collaboration as NWRS’s collaborative pianist, Marjorie Skreen, will be joined by two cellists from the choir well-known for their artistry — tenor Matt Kelzenberg and bass section leader Tom Walworth — along with acclaimed cellists Roberta Hansen Downey and Kaitlynn Turner. Together, they’ll form a dynamic cello quartet, and each will be performing individually with NWRS for select choral pieces.
In addition to wide-ranging choral works, our program includes Something Wicked This Way Comes, an original instrumental work composed by Tom Walworth, inspired by the haunting magic of Ray Bradbury’s classic novel. Originally written for a large cello ensemble at Central Washington University, Tom has reimagined this cinematic work especially for our cello quartet — and we can’t wait for you to experience it. It’s sure to be a highlight of the evening!
