Associated Ministries convenes Community Quarterly Meetings four times each year in partnership with other homeless and housing service providers working in Pierce County. Make plans now to join for our first meeting of 2023. The goal every meeting is to create an energizing space to gather regularly to learn about, discuss and take action on the crisis of homelessness in our community. Come learn and see how you can get involved!

Please join us for the next Community Quarterly Meeting (CQM) on homelessness. This is a free event but registration is required (click here):

Community Quarterly Meetings to Solve Homelessness
Thursday, February 16, 5:00-6:30 pm
IN PERSON – NEW LOCATION!
Bryant Neighborhood Center
(at Trinity Presbyterian Church)
1615 6th Avenue, Tacoma 98405

February’s presenters:
Marty Tetloff and Hank Noll, Database Managers for Associated Ministries and Catholic Community Services
Hank and Marty will team up to provide a concrete understanding of what homelessness looks like in Pierce County. We have seen all the tents going up across neighborhoods and business districts. We have seen individuals sleeping in parks, on sidewalks and in their cars. We have witnessed the crisis of homelessness increase every month across Pierce County. Join us to learn what data is telling us about the crisis of homelessness. This is a meeting you do not want to miss, as your eyes will be opened! Be sure to invite members from your church, community, and/or business to hear this important message. Knowledge is power!

Jessica Pair and Pastor Samara Jenkins from Family Promise and Spanaway UMC
They will share about a new local affiliate of the “Family Promise” initiative focused on Parkland/Spanaway and surrounding areas. Family Promise is a national nonprofit with 200+ affiliates that serve children and families experiencing homelessness. Since 1986 Family Promise has developed and utilized community-based approaches to prevent and end family homelessness. This new local effort is being led by faith communities with an initial goal of implementing a rotational shelter model in unincorporated Pierce County. The model will consist of providing temporary housing for families while helping them connect to services. Join us and learn firsthand how you and your church could be involved. There are several levels of commitment that all include hands-on support and training, if needed. We are better together!

Finally, the February CQM will conclude with a unique session of prayer for those experiencing homelessness. Local faith leaders will join CQM attendees to pray for vision and guidance to end homelessness in our community. We will pray for those living on the streets and without a home. We will pray for our community leadership to make decisions that align with ending homelessness. Every single person that desires a home deserves a home. We encourage you to be part of this powerful session.

Please note: after the presentations, there will be a brief break before we transition into the optional prayer session. We invite all those who are interested to stay to experience the power of prayer together.
