Helping our Unhoused Neighbors during the Heat

temp

It’s not just winter — extreme heat can be just as dangerous for our unhoused neighbors.

This summer, let’s stay mindful, stay compassionate, and keep working toward a community where everyone has a safe place to call home.

How can you help? Here are a few suggestions of items you could provide/hand out for folks experiencing homelessness during the heat

  • Frozen bottled water
  • Fill gallon-size Ziploc bags with snacks, toiletries and other essentials; keep them in your car to hand out
  • Reusable, durable water bottles that can be refilled from public water sources
  • Hats or bananas to help create shade
  • Sunscreen

Additionally, here is a list of cooling centers located in Pierce County this summer.
