Helping the Hungry through Your Feet

“It is important for people to realize that we can make progress against world hunger, that world hunger is not hopeless. The worst enemy is apathy.”  These are the words of Reverend David Beckman, who is one of the foremost U.S. advocates for hungry people.  His words ring true as we prepare for the 35th annual Pierce County Hunger Walk.

Through the Pierce County Hunger Walk we are able to help raise funds for Emergency Food Network and other hunger relief organizations. In 2014 the funds raised through the Hunger Walk helped feed thousands of your neighbors in need.

At FISH Food Banks, a meal costs less than 18 cents to produce. That means clients benefited from over 11,000 nutritious meals from the donations brought in by the participants of the Hunger Walk. At Emergency Food Network they are able to leverage $12 worth of food for every $1 donated making your donations go farther.15359821797_06fa0222c3_k
