Navaratri – A Hindu Fall Celebration!
September 27, 2017
Many cultures and faith traditions celebrate during the fall, many around harvest time. The Hindu faith tradition is one of those. Navaratri, currently in celebration, is a 9-day festival celebrated by Hindus around the globe. While some areas of India celebrate as a harvest festival, others celebrate as an honor to the divine feminine Devi, celebrated as goddess Durga, as well as honoring revered god Rama.
Navaratri is known to many as “the celebration of dance.” Celebrations include dance, stage decorations, recital of legend, enacting of the storie, and chanting of the scriptures of Hinduism.
