Paint Tacoma Beautiful – Volunteers Needed!

H4H Americorps PTPB - House

On a cloudy but warm July day, volunteers from Habitat for Humanity AmeriCorps were busy painting Karen’s home. When asked why the crew wanted to paint, crew leader Kayla Reopelle stated, “Paint Tacoma Pierce Beautiful does an amazing service to our community. It allows homeowners like Karen H4H Americorps PTPB 5to have a newfound pride in their homes, it provides neighborhoods a facelift that can inspire others to take care of their homes, and gives volunteers a deep satisfaction for making a visible, positive change in their community.”

There are many other homeowners waiting for groups like Habitat for Humanity AmeriCorps to volunteer to assist them. H4H Americorps PTPB3Whether it is a crew who can take on a house start to finish, have just one day to help, or individuals who will join as part of a crew, more hands are needed to help!  As co-crew leader, Anthony Gibbs, says, “Karen simply deserved a periwinkle pick-me-up, and I felt privileged to be a part of the project to give it to her.”

For homeowner Karen having her home painted was “a miracle come true”.  “I didn’t know how I would be able to get it painted and when I heard about the program for Paint Tacoma-Pierce Beautiful I thought ‘maybe this is the answer’ and it was!  The volunteers were friendly and did such a beautiful job.  Even my dog Charlie enjoyed having them there.”

Tacoma/Pierce County Habitat for Humanity provided a double service this year: in addition to painting a house, they also generously sponsored the program by providing 350 gallons of high quality paint for this year’s projects.
