Volunteers Needed at Tacoma’s First Tiny House Village

volunteer word cloud

A new tiny house village for those experiencing homelessness is opening in Tacoma on December 19! The Low Income Housing Institute (LIHI), manager of the project, is looking for volunteers to prepare the site with construction of the kitchen, painting, cleaning, grounds beautification, and preparing houses for occupancy.

This village is opening in partnership with the City of Tacoma to provide expanded shelter capacity for the people that are currently staying at People’s Park and in the Hilltop Neighborhood. The village will provide heated tiny houses, community spaces, and 24/7 site staff and community organizers.

If you’re unable to volunteer, LIHI is also in need of basic donations that can be dropped off in Tacoma – things like warm winter clothing, shoes, non-perishable foods, unopened hygiene products, kitchen appliances, and supplies. Finally, LIHI is looking for volunteers that are interested in bringing by hot food for the village once it opens on the 19th.
