$3.5M to address youth homelessness headed to Pierce County, where shelter options few

end youth homelessness

Pierce County received some truly incredible news this past week with the announcement that HUD (the Federal government’s department of Housing and Urban Development) has approved our community’s application for Youth Homelessness Demonstration Project funding (YHDP) in the amount of $3.5m. This significant funding will be used to provide new and expanded services for youth and young adults experiencing homelessness, through a plan that will now be developed under the leadership of the PC Youth Action Board. If HUD approves our plan and our community achieves its stated goals, this funding will continue to flow into our community in perpetuity! This award nearly doubles the funding our community receives annually from HUD, and it is a game changing new resource for our homeless system.
