Bystander Intervention Training – September 24
REGISTRATION (FREE BUT REQUIRED) CLOSES ON 9/23 AT 3:00 PDT. REGISTER TODAY!
Have you ever been in a situation where somebody was being harassed or threatened, you wanted to help, but didn’t know what to do? Or what not to do? In these times, more than ever, it is important that we not just be bystanders, but that we be prepared to witness and assist if needed.
Learn how to intervene in public instances of racist, anti-Black, anti-Muslim, anti-Trans, and other forms of oppressive interpersonal violence and harassment. Register here for this FREE training, being held via Zoom on September 24, 3:30-5:00 PDT. Space is limited so sign up today!
During this training, we will explore “do’s and don’ts” of bystander intervention. Throughout the training, various scenarios will be explored. We will learn how to respond effectively, taking the lead from the person being harassed. Learn not only how to intervene on the streets, but how to teach and train others on these methods.
This training is provided by the American Friends Service Committee’s Lucy Duncan, Director of Friends Relations. Lucy is an experienced facilitator, including multiple bystander intervention trainings and a six-week online course this summer entitled, “Radical Acting in Faith for White People.”
This training session is made possible by the Tacoma Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) and is co-sponsored by Associated Ministries.
