Moments of Blessings – A New Season

Conducting a “spiritual reclamation” service in every space within Pierce County where a homicide occurs has been an outreach of Associated Ministries’ Moments of Blessings for the past 19 years. The tragedy of homicide, however, does not stand alone in today’s world.

Every year in our community homeless individuals die alone on the streets, lonely and hurting people commit suicide, and the unclaimed remains of forgotten souls wait in the morgue. Remembering and honoring the lives of these members of our community as well is not only respectful to those that have passed, but essential to our humanity as we attempt to fill our hearts with compassion.

As a result, AM has a new vision for how we can come together to remember all individuals who have tragically, or in loneliness, lost their lives. Beginning this year, an annual memorial service will be held to remember and honor all those who left us tragically or unnoticed. More information will be coming soon about this gathering.

As a result, going forward AM will no longer automatically conduct Moments of Blessing on the sites of every homicide in Pierce County. Stemming from our desire to memorialize individuals beyond those who are victims of homicide, and in light of limited staffing to run the Blessings ministry as well as mission realignment, we now are offering Moments of Blessing by special request only. Contact Sandy Windley in the AM office for more information: 253-426-1506 or sandyw@associatedministries.org.
